The Sophistical Refutations Read as an Instrument for Machine-Composed Knowledge — typed transformations, each with its witness, its strongest alternative reading, a countertest and the smallest repair.
Why it stands beside PER. PER measures declared losses against a versioned target: author, institution, identifier, source, and in its dimensional form (#1469) the atoms of the work (author, title, date, claim boundary), of its context (framework, tradition, institution) and of its depth (lineage, identifiers, licence). A composition can keep every token PER counts and still change the authority, scope or relation under which it presents them. The measure's case is an observation scored at PER 0.042, eleven of twelve atoms present, every quotation genuine, which substitutes one locus of a concept developed across eight deposits for the concept. Quotation verification cannot settle representational adequacy. The measure types that transformation (X24, locus substituted for entity) and examines the warrant of the measurement target itself.
The governing condition. The composition's claim to adequacy. A short answer drawn from one source is ordinary selection; it becomes a finding where the composition claims, in words or by its presentation, to stand for more than its selection warrants. Each finding records what was asked, what scope the answer announces, and which omitted relation materially changes the answer at that scope, before any operation is typed.
Applied outside the archive. The first worked finding on an external entity: avi-loeb-3i-atlas-aio-20261102, where the Overview condenses Avi Loeb's position on 3I/ATLAS to one interview concession while his own later essays, carded beside it, keep the anomalies open at Level 4. Scalar PER reads zero there; the loss is in the commitments.
